Ok, so how did you do this past week on your goals? Did you try writing out S.M.A.R.T. goals? I didn’t do too shabby and I made it back to write my second blog! (happy dance)
Unfortunately one goal that I did not accomplish was taking some time out for myself. Between working a full time job, running Soyful Aromas, taking care of my family (including making sure that the dog was walked), and everything else that comes with “adulting”, somehow I left self-care off of my to-do list.
Simply defined, self-care is the care of oneself. I know we all hear about the importance of self-care, but no one ever really tells you how to carve out the time to actually practice it. Let’s be realistic there’s only 24 hours in day and unless there’s a magical way to add a few more hours (which there isn’t), after you do EVERYTHING else that needs to be done, the day is over and it’s time to get ready to do it all over again the next day.
Therefore this week I’ve decided to added a “little me-time” to my daily goals. Now ideally, I’d like a daily massage, someone else to clean the house, and a personal chef to prepare all my meals (lol), but those are not realistic goals for me. So this week I’ll be adding in those little things that I enjoy, the things that make me smile, and the things that help me to take better care of myself.
So I’m going to try and check-in with you each day this week and share my daily acts of self-care. I challenge you to make a list of the little things that you can do to help you focus on self-care. I’ve attached a list of ’30 Ways to Focus on Self-Care’ to help give you some ideas. Feel free to share throughout the week … we can hold one another accountable (smile).
Remember self-care is not a luxury, it’s a necessity.
