Here’s our “my B.O.B.” story, enjoy!
Janēt Campbell is the owner and candlemaker of Soyful Aromas. She is very passionate about self care and helping others. Janēt has been working in the field of social services for over 20+ years. She also has a huge passion and love for animals. A California native, the East Bay has been Janēt’s home all her life and she still explores and learns about new places.
Soyful Aromas was created in her kitchen, aka her wax lab. She hopes to one day have a brick and mortar or be on the shelves in spas and boutiques. For now, you can find Soyful Aromas online and at various Bay Area market events. Janēt started her business in 2015 after watching a few YouTube videos and reading the instructions that came with her candle making kit, Janēt dove in and started pouring was. She couldn’t believe how amazing her house smelled!
One the day that she decided to google about candle making, Janēt was in the midst of a major life change. She didn’t know if she was coming or going on some days. A huge advocate of self care, Janēt realized that she wasn’t really taking good care of herself. Her online search was also her attempt to try and save herself from falling into depression. Janēt hopes that through her story and her products she can bring awareness about the benefits of self care and how crucial it is.
She is so proud of how far her business has come and wants to be an example for others that they can create a business as well. Growing up, Janēt didn’t always get to see examples of other Black women entrepreneurs. Raised by a single Black mother, Janēt’s mother instilled great values and morals in her – but not entrepreneurship. Which is why Janēt has a message for others: You can either have a career where you work for someone OR you work for yourself.
